Proven Research
Twenty five years of research has proven that children of
lesbian parents have fewer behavioral problems.
The study began in 1986 and the results were just released last week. The participating mothers were interviewed during
pregnancy and again when the children were 2, 5, 10, and 17 years old.
Children were rated using the Child Behavior Checklist,
which is commonly used on all children.
The results showed that children of lesbian parents scored not just the
same as others, but better. They rated
higher in social, academic, and total competence. They also showed lower rates in social,
rule-breaking, aggressive, and problem behavior.
Although there is suspicion that the study may be biased
because of the funding source coming from gays and lesbians, Dr. Nanette
Gartrell says the funding source had nothing to do with her findings. If you would like to read more about this
