Erica & Louise

I am about to start trying for baby #2 in January – which has already been a journey! After connecting with other donor siblings, I found one last vial from Louise’s donor. The vial has been shipped from Canada to the US and is waiting for my 1st IVF cycle in a few short weeks. Wish us luck!

I have always known that I wanted to be a mother. My father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2017, and I knew that having my parents be able to enjoy being grandparents was a priority. After he was diagnosed and I was single in my 30s, I did not think twice about becoming a single mother by choice. I work in oncology research in the US. I began my journey in 2017 and became pregnant in early 2018, via my 2nd IUI. My parents were very involved in every aspect of my process, and to this day watch my daughter while I work.

My fertility clinic recommended Xytex, along with other clinics. I chose Xytex because of the adult photos. Every aspect was easy and seamless. Xytex stood out against many other banks because others didn’t include adult photos. Genetics, along with eye color and education, were a large part of my decision when it came time to choose my donor.

My advice to others? I have had multiple single women ask for advice when moving forward in their journey. I try not to give advice when choosing a donor. It is such a personal journey, but I always give my support and tell them about mine with Xytex.

After completing my purchase with Xytex, and after 2 rounds of IUI and a few admissions for pre-eclampsia, I welcomed my perfect daughter, Louise. Her donor described himself as a “talker”, and my girl definitely picked up that trait! I am about to start trying for baby #2 in January – which has already been a journey!
