Kayleigh & Greer

Trust the site!! And take your time. Do what is right for your family but know you’re in safe hands.

Tell us a bit more about your background. What do you do for a living? Are you in the U.S.? Overseas? Married?

My name is Kayliegh and I am 33 years young. I live in Durham in the UK and I am married to the love of my life, my beautiful wife Greer. We have been together just under 10 years now (10 years in Feb 2021). We both work for a large telecommunications company and my job role is a Technical Support Advisor.

When did you begin your Xytex search/ pregnancy journey?

Our Xytex Journey started back in February 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead.

Are you in a heterosexual couple, a same-sex couple, or are you a single mother by choice?

We are a same sex couple.

What challenges did you face when trying to become pregnant, if any? How did you handle those challenges?

I had a lot of testing done before starting IVF. I have endometriosis and it’s caused a lot of scar tissue, making artificial insemination impossible. My tubes are completely blocked, so IVF was agreed to be the best option for us. Back in 2014 we had 2 failed attempts and 1 successful attempt. We were pregnant with twins, but the pregnancy unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I ended up with a blood clot and on medication, so we had to wait to try again. To lessen the pain and frustration, we traveled a lot during that time.

Who supported you the most during your donor search/ pregnancy?

We received a lot of support from the IVF clinic that we used. They had on-site counselors and personal nurses you could contact with any questions or concerns. I’d have to say, we were each other’s best support.

How did you hear about Xytex? How did you go about finding us?

We had done a lot of research on sperm banks before even starting the IVF process. Xytex was always the one we came back to. To our delight, it was one of the banks our clinic used.

Why did you choose Xytex?

Compared to others it was clear cut, from going on the site you just feel warm and comfortable…you know you’re in good hands!’

What was most important to you when choosing a donor? What were you looking for?

We used my egg, so we were looking for similarities to Greer’s features, like hair, eyes, and interests. Most importantly, we cared about health background. We didn’t want to see any pictures. We just knew the donor we picked was the right one.

What would you tell others looking for a donor? Any advice?
