Marissa & Manon

After completing our purchase in November 2017, we got the ok to start inseminating in January 2018. It took 4 months, but our daughter was born on 12/31/18. We had 2 vials left in storage & decided in August 2018 to get a referral to try for number 2. We got the ok to go ahead with insemination in March 2020 & the day before I ovulated, the clinic closed due to Covid-19. In July 2020, we were finally able to try, & we were successful on our 1st attempt! Baby number 2 is due in March 2021.

Meet Marissa, her wife Manon, and daughter Mackenzie! Baby number 2 is on the way! “My wife & I live in Canada with our daughter & 4 pets. I’m a small animal vet, working on spreading body positivity & supporting women on their health journey! Our Xytex search in of January 2017. We went through a fertility clinic due to sperm deficiency. We learned about Xytex through our fertility clinic and chose you because, being Canadian, we had limited options. Xytex seemed to have more Canadian compliant donors that fit our original criteria. When looking for a donor, we didn’t have too many ‘hard’ nos. We wanted a healthy family history, free from genetic diseases. We also selected our donor based on height, hair & eye color, skin tone, baby photo, & with similar features to my wife. That said, we were happy with our search & the ease of the purchasing process. Advice to others? My partner & I each made lists & then compared them to make our choices. I recommend buying more vials than just for 1 child (even if you think you only want 1). We almost had to find a 2nd donor for our 2nd child. We were ok with this, but would mean going through the process again. We’ve also become friends with the ‘donor siblings’ families & it makes it less complicated to stay within that extended family than to be adding a 2nd extended family.
