Shenay & Ciara

I would absolutely recommend Xytex. They have a lot to offer, but most importantly, they connected us with other families that used the same donor. Family is what we value most. So the fact that my son can know of his half-siblings growing up is amazing.

“Ciara is in the army, & I’m now a stay at home mom. After trying to get pregnant for 3 years, my wife decided she’d try for our family. So when our little miracle arrived, I decided I didn’t want to miss a beat, and left my job. We began our family journey in 2016. We started out with 1 donor, but unfortunately, he ran out of vials, so we had to choose a different donor. From 2016 – 2019 I struggled to get pregnant & stay pregnant. I had 3 miscarriages and 2 surgeries for polyp removal. We tried 8 IUI’S, & I did IVF once. That was my last time ttc. My wife, Ciara, is & will always be my biggest supporter, especially, once she chose to try & conceive, which wasn’t in either of our plans. We picked Xytex after doing a Google search and picked them due to their large selection of African American donors. We liked that we could listen to the donor’s voice during their interviews and that you could see more than just 2 pictures. The number one requirement for our donor was that he had to be an open ID donor. We needed that option to be available for our child. Everyone, no matter who you are, wants to know where they came from. I would absolutely recommend Xytex. They have a lot to offer, but most importantly, they connected us with other families that used the same donor. Family is what we value most. So the fact that my son can know of his half-siblings growing up is amazing. After our 3rd purchase from Xytex & several pregnancies fails, we decided to go with IVF. So we did egg removal from me & embryo transfer to my wife. Ciara got pregnant on our 1st try. During my wife’s pregnancy, she was in the hospital for 6 weeks due to preeclampsia. Our son was also delivered 6 weeks early. He only had to spend a week in the NICU, but they both came home healthy. My advice to others? I would tell people to do their research. Our doctor didn’t explain to us that when doing an egg transfer, preeclampsia is a side effect. I’m just grateful that my wife & child made it through everything safely. We’re now a family of 3. Our son CJ was born 7/4/2019 at 4 pounds & 6 ounces. This day changed our lives forever.”
